A little while back, Sonuus sent me their new G2M product to demo and it actually works pretty well!
Basically the G2M is a little box battery operated that transforms your guitar signal into a midi signal without the need of special pickups.

First I had some trouble with it as there was quite some latency, but after a while I got used to it and thought it worked pretty well!

There are several things to keep in mind to have a good experience with it:

-This is monophonic, play more than one note at the same time and the device will pick one of these notes...
-The G2M doesn't work very well with USB midi devices. That is why I had some trouble at first since I have a USB soundcard.
-Turn the tone knob of your guitar down, it will help the G2M recognize your notes better as there will be less harmonics.
-I had much better experience wit a guitar with a higher auction where the strings were a little higher than in my Parker where my strings are very close to the strings.
-The G2M works well for slower themes, but tends to freak out when you play faster, that is because you need an extremely clean technique.

I'll make a more detailed test, but here is just a little video of me messing around with the unit.

It's a shame it's not Polyphonic. I suppose there's nothing to stop people multi-layering their harmonies though!! Looks like quite a cool gadget!!

Worth checking this gear out, Yamaha EZ-EG its a toy guitar, but have midi out!!!!, know a guy who use it on studio, so I guess it works.....and it is fairly cheap to get a used one ($100-120)

Sounds interesting. I have one question smile.gif

Where are you puling all the sounds from ? From VST's inside Nuendo and such software I am assuming ?

I have Roland GR 20 and it has some awesome sounds built in already, finally will get midi pick up and mount it next month smile.gif

Yeah, I use vst softsynths.
You can use them within Nuendo or any sequencer that supports vst, dxi or rtas plugins...
That's exiting about getting a midi pickup!

Great thanks for the info David. I am just talking to Muris about that device now...

This GK-3 pickup costs around 11000 dinars which is 140 $ smile.gif
I am afraid if I mount it to my current custom built guitar that tuning will constantly go out, so I am thinking of buying cheaper guitar that plays well to use with this device.

Well, Fender and Gibson are certainly not cheap guitars
plus wood etc has nothing to do with the sound when doing Midi
so my guess is Squier or som in that league,
well tuned with descent action and that'd be it. smile.gif

This sounds really interesting. It would help a lot for writing tabs if it can automatically turn your playing into midi. Looks like it is cheaper than a good midi pickup.

How does the tracking compare to a GK-3?

I haven't tried the GK-3, but I think the GK-3 is a bit better..
Can someone confirm?

You're right Emir, that would be a great use.
But I personally don't think that it would work well for transcribing super fast licks...
