I looked at the tutorial of Marcus, which was brilliant. Anyway is it harder to install active pickups or can I do this by myself too?

Thanks smile.gif

Hi !
Active pickups are no harder to install.
The schematics should be available on the compagny website.
Which pickups are you looking for?

Well if you have passive pick ups currently you'll need to find a place to but the battery for the active ones.

You will have to replace all your pots, find a spot for a 9volt battery and connect it and finally solder the new pickups in...

My advice: Take your guitar to the store and tell them *I will buy a set of EMGs IF you guys install them for free!*

Don't forget to inspect the guitar after they do their job. Sometimes they can wire something wrong, and when you come home and you find out, later they will possibly want a fee. There are slim chances for this to happen, but checking in the store is something that is good idea to do nevertheless, just to make sure.

Doesn`t the ZW signature already have the lethal EMG-combination? Even the Epi version?

At least I thought so tongue.gif

Possibly he inserted other EMG combo, I would like to hear what as well smile.gif

If so, it's not so easy to install actives in the passive pups guitar, cause you have to make a battery cavity, which is a bit more work. Don't know.. it's best to check with guitar tech in the area mate, and see how much this pleasure will cost you! smile.gif

Only the Gibson Zakk Wylde Signatures come with active 81/85 pickups...

The Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Pauls only come with the passive EMG Hz humbuckers, which are pretty horrible imo! EMG has no talent in passive guitar pickups, the diffrence after the swap was like night and day!
Aside from the pickups, it's one of the best epiphones to buy (and the ONLY factory built les Paul with maple necks!)

Thats smart thinging ! We shouldn't hasitate to bargain with salesman , after all - the costumer is always right!

Regarding active pickups instead of passive ones...I don't know , it can be done, but it can be tricky if there is no space to put the 9v batterie/es needed for operation of pickups. Its best to leave that job to a proffesional.

Thats what they said yesterday! smile.gif

Musicstore zakk?tongue.gif

Anyway, I´m going for Seymour Duncans SH2 and SH4, I like their high crying sound much more than the emg´s smile.gif

Edit: I´ll give my guitar into the hands of a professional, though I just wanted to do something at "her" by myself sad.gif
