Well...we found out that my mother has ovarian cancer, and it is systemic, which means they won't be able to stop it. We knew she had it last year, and she went through a tough round of chemo...but were hopeful that they had gotten it all. She had some lymph nodes removed and they had cancer in them. The good news is that the doctor said there was no more cancer in her body...just in the lymph nodes. The bad news is that because the cancer is in the lymph nodes, it can spread anywhere her blood travels. So, we just have to wait and see if it appears in her brain, lungs, stomach etc. The doctor said it could be a long time before it shows up again...or it could be quite quickly. But it is a matter of time until it does appear somewhere else. What makes it more frustrating, is that she is the healthiest 60 year old woman you could meet. She doesn't smoke...doesnt drink...careful about what she eats etc. This has been a brutal year for my family...really put what is important in perspective. Take time enjoying the people and things you love in life, all in all - we are here for a very short time.

Ben

That's rough man, I hope things work out for your mom and your family. It is unfortunate to see such a case from someone who actually does take care of their body.

I'm really sorry to hear that sad.gif and I know exactly what your going through.
My mother passed away late last year of cancer. She went through surgery to remove it, and the doctors said the surgery went great. No sign of cancer. Then a few months later her health suddenly declined and it turns out the cancer wasnt gone and had spread in a surprisingly short time and it was too late to do anything.

Wish you and your family the best of luck.

Ben, I´m realy sorry to hear that. I don´t know if a forum is the right place to talk about such things, but anyway as I read what you wrote I had to answer. First of all, I´m not too religious, but mate, I´ll pray for her.

My father passed away 6 months ago due to some deseases ( I don´t wanna mention at all ) and in the end a heart attack.
But it´s just like you said, things can happen so fast, and that´s why I can just qoute yourself.
"Take time enjoying the people and things you love in life, all in all - we are here for a very short time."

Good luck to you and your whole family. You´ll make it.

I feel for you and yours Ben - not good news at all for you and yours sad.gif .

My wife lost her father to cancer back in 2004 and her mother to leucemia early 2008. Like Trond my mum was diagnosed some time ago and went through an operation to remove the growth and test it. They had at that time thought she was clear but were wrong. She went in for a major operation late last year to remove more and since then has been in a hospice waiting for the inevitable. She's sort of reconciled to it and sees it as a period of time to sort out some things and say good bye.

Not an easy time for you so all my best in these dark times.

Tony

Cancer can be so indescriminate with its victims, it can seem so unfair, my aunt went through years of treatment for a very rare form of cancer and it was heartwrenching to see, although saying that she never complained and always put her family first.

Hope things take a turn for the better soon mate.

Really sad to hear this. This is LIFE, what can we do? Try to appreciate all the friends and family in our life and that's all we can do. I wish your mum can get better and your family can have great time together with no more tears and pains. God bless you.
