Combo Vs Half Stack |

I'm a head and cabinet kind of guy myself, I like the opportunity to be able to have different cabinets and find my own match.
But for a combo where they added the speakers that would truly match and it's the ones you want, why not, then there's no need for change those. Heads are a little more easy to service, concidering the work you do yourself like changing tubes. Not by much but the tube are standing up and it's easier than to work upseidedown. A head and cabinet can weigh more in total but each unit is easier to carry around, you have to walk twice (yes you can put let the head ride on a cabinet with wheels to make it even more easy but sometimes I dislike the idea of a bumpy transport of the head in terms of caring for your tubes) The VM does seem like a cool amp! Not so much modern-modern but the rock sounds are totally right -------------------- My bands homepage

I would say 2x12 combo, 4x12 cab needs two people to carry it around, and it's bigger than a 2x12 combo. 2x12 combo also requires 2 people for carrying long distances, but it's more compact, fits better in car/van, and one person can handle it on short distances. And YES 4x12 has a better sound!
I really like the fact that tubes in heads are placed upwards, which is definitely better then putting them to hang down like in combos. However with careful handling this all shouldn't be too much of a problem, and replacing the tubes is piece of cake with both versions if you need to do it. Combo version requires unscrewing 4 screws more and taking out the amp from the cab which is not something that is difficult to do, and it is not done often neither. I love the sound of Vintage Modern, I was on the verge of getting one, but the shops didn't have it  I hope you have fun with it!

With around 80lbs (37kg) 4x12 is pretty heavy, I'm pretty sure it cannot be carried around easily by one person, possibly on some distances like 10 meters or so, and if on wheels but still...

Are you telling me you are a superman  just kidding of course, we all did tough jobs at young age to support our needs, some worked for gear, some worked to have some pocket money, but the essence of the thing is that 36kg should not be considered something that a one person can move with ease. Of course all that hard work will later be rewarded with good sound, so.. who likes it, he gets it.

I wonder why they are so much more heavy than marshall cabs. But of course even those can be lugged arround by a single person. But do you really want to play a gig afterwards?But there's another interesting point to this. People will help you to lug around that 4x12 cab.
