Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

This is my attempt of the ''Opeth Style Lesson'' by Toni Suominen:

Unfortunatley the Backing Track in the original tempo has also the full guitar track on it, so I tried to get my guitar to cut through the original mix by using more mids...

Gear is my Gibson Les Paul Standard with Bareknuckle Nailbomb pickups directly into my Marshall Jvm Halfstack

Filmed with a Logitech Quickcam 5000, and I still have this out of sync problem the longer the vid gets...

I could hardly hear the backing and your sound might have been ok but the camera didn't really captured it 100%.

Great job on this Zakk,

A couple of things, this type of riffing requires a special detail to picking rhythm consistency, there were times that you syncopated the rhythm, you never really got off the beat but sometimes you were rushing, and sometimes you were chasing the rhyhm a bit. I had to listen to it a few times to catch that. It may help if you do something to keep your mind on the tempo so you don't drift. Tapping your foot, banging your head....something to internalize the tempo.

I realize that this backing track is hard to record over, it sounds like your getting a good tone, but i am not sure how much of that is the other guitar in the backing track.

Like others said, it's pretty hard to hear your sound. Other than that, it's a nice take.

Great take! You have some little issues about the rhythm though.
The sound of your guitar is cool and it's loud enough, but I lower a little the score because if we cannot hear the backing clearly is harder to judge correctly some little details.

Keep the good work! smile.gif

The only problem I had with it was the sound fitting the backing. It just wasn't balanced enough. Work on that it will be perfect !
