This is probably the dumbest piece of music that I´ve heard. What do you think about this? |

Some of the interesting aspects of 4'33' is that it considers a number of issues. First the difference between music and silence - and that there is no absolute silence. If you listen to the work there are sounds, the audience moving about, environmental noise, etc. Second, in relation to this it explores the dialectic between music as intentional sound and unintentional sounds. With unintentional sounds it relates further to randomness and chance wrt music. There is always unintentional sound in music - what 4' 33'' does is bring them to the forefront by deliberately eclipsing the intentional sounds that we commonly think of as 'the music'.
All of these issues - and many others beside - help construct John Cage's philosophical view of life and music. As Ramiro says he was both a brilliant composer and extremely intelligent. 4' 33' asks some very profound questions about the nature of music . -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
