Well, if you define it that way, then there would only be 4 continents - North and South America are connected, as are Europe, Asia, and Africa. So there would be America, Eurafriasia huh.gif laugh.gif, Australia, and Antarctica. In which case Australia is definitely the smallest. laugh.gif

I for one am counting on US wanting more oil... hence the Petroleum Eng. Degree

*Soap box / general oil rant warning*

It's very clear to me that oil will become more and more profitable. While other forms of fuel are available, I figure they will be pushed away by big oil as they have been in the past (ie: electric car, solar power, etc). Oil rules with world, and always will, ... or at least the next 200 years. However, this isn't all bad for the environment. Now with the CO2 capture designs they are working on (Regina being a world leader biggrin.gif), we are now able to capture close to 95% of the CO2 emitted into the atmosphere.

With more engineering efforts being put forth everyday, we are coming close to being very efficient with little extra harm to the environment. Environmental engineering is a pretty popular elective to take, and it's amazing what they can do with reclaimed oil sand sites. You'd never know they were even there mining. Yes, the tailing ponds aren't pretty, but those are one of the necessary steps in reclaiming land. They aren't permanent, so some people freak out when they see them.

Along with my belief that mining the oil sands isn't a bad idea, I wish they had a more efficient way to separate the oil from the sand. Right now they use natural gas (the cleanest hydrocarbon energy) to boil the oil out of the sand (the dirtiest).
