I vote for the Laney Lionheart 5w. I own that myself, and it's the best amp I ever owned. Perfect tone, both Clean and Overdrive. It's very cheap compared to other tube amps in the category. The only thing is the price went up from january 2009. Still worth every dollar

I'm hesitating between a Marshall half-stack and Line 6 Spider Jam (tubes I think), do they both give clean and heavy sound ? Line 6 amps usually give all kinds of sounds... Sorry for using somebody else's thread ! biggrin.gif

hey another question!

is it not very good for my amp if i just play like 10 min. and then i turn it off again? 'cause the valves always need to heat up a bit before the sound comes and i thought maybe it would be better to let it switched on for some time before i switch it off.

any suggestions?

thx, peter

For 10 mins break you shouldn't turn it off,
just turn off the master or som.
For longer breaks (hour or more) go for turn off.
And this AVT you bought isn't tube amp, it's hybrid.
It has tube/s but in preamp section only, those tubes
don't need lot of time for warming up, power tubes do. smile.gif

I had one similar in the 80's of the silver jubilee series, with one 12-inch speaker. It was just great!!! I wish I still have it today....

I asked the guy selling the marshall if the tubes or anything else hase been replaced and how old it really is. maybe i'll buy it if so. and if not, i'll see how much the price will raise from now 'cause for let's say 200 bucks, i'd take an old amp if the reissue cost 1200$.

i'll report as fast as possible,

greetz peter

well i know it's hybrid, but i it still does take some time before the tone comes, of course not as long as a full valve amp, but still about 10 sec. or something.

am i right your advice to turn if off when i don't play like 1h is for both hybrid and tube amp?

thx, peter

@ staffy: unfortunately i didn't get that amp : ( but thanks ; )
