Soul collaboration - 13 participants

A little while back, I offered 13 of you the opportunity to record your take over a soul backing track. As always, you all did a very good job and it was a pleasure to listen to them and give you my personal comments. I hope you find my suggestions insightful and encouraging. Once again, awesome job everyone!

Oh, and you will notice that for this collab, I decided to try something a little different. Instead of posting a long mp3 with all of your takes, I posted each take individually for better clarity. Also, you can watch all of the videos in HD by pressing the corresponding button underneath the player!

Enjoy!

david you are right about my tone

the reason for it sounding so harsh is because i didnt have a mic pre amp at the time, and to compensate for that i had to use a compression to boost the volume which added edge

i assure you that its all been fixed now, and that ill be sending you to tonal heaven next collab,

thanks for the comments, i look forward to working with your collabs more often!

Thanks for the video comment, it really helps, and I appreciate you taking the time to do this smile.gif
I definitely see what you're saying about the second part of my solo, after listening to it a few more times I see where you're coming from. I will work on all the things you mentioned very thoroughly. I actually have a solo to record for Pedja's collab which is coming up soon, so I will try to implement your tips into my playing for that smile.gif

Thanks again man. i found your comments very helpful

Many thanks David for taken the time and efforts to write all those comments, which is great! smile.gif

All your points are valid, and I am going to focus more and more on the rhythmic placement in future takes. It really felt good that this was the first take out of several collabs, which mentions that my left hand vibrato was good, as I focussed on that for the last couple of months biggrin.gif

I should have rerecorded the take really, to get rid of the sloppyness at a couple of places, but was too busy with other things unfortunately smile.gif

Anyways, looking forward to your new collab!

Cheers
Roger

Thanks for the comments David! I must add that it's not just me ideas but it's also your great backing that makes me develop those ideas... So sometimes a great backing just speaks for itself, I merely try to interpret its whispering smile.gif Thank you, I'll work on my problem points, and I look forward to your next collaboration for sure!

Great job mate! laugh.gif

Thanks a lot for this helpful comment! I´m so pleased to hear so much good things. biggrin.gif I mostly compose my takes, but I leave one or two bars for improvisation and that´s why some things aren´t really convenient. Next time, I´ll try to make it better! smile.gif
