Hi every body, here are (at last smile.gif ) final results for the blues competition! smile.gif

First to say that it was very tough for me to pick the winners, and then it was very tough to determine to places as well, cause the takes were all great, and had some king of a cool thing that stands out! smile.gif

I have taken into consideration several things, and those are:

- Sounds quality
- Arrangement quality
- Number of components added
- Vibe of the song
- Original idea

I must say that all the takes that had only guitar were this time not among the winners, and this is because people who put vocals and other interesting stuff into the song made something that sounds like a song, which was the main goal of the competition.
Regardless of that, I think all the takes that had guitar parts were awesome, there were some great ideas there, and those guitar parts were IMO perhaps better in quality than the winners, but all in all, I think winners did made a cool songs that really sound like a song so that was what was main decision reason in the end.

So without further ado:

1. Place belongs to David Berntsen

Prize for David is:
Boss BD2 blues driver stomp

You can listen to his take here
The reason I choose David for the first place is the fact that he had inserted some very cool sounding vocals in the song and made a very balanced arrangement. There are some things that could be better in this take tho - vocals could be more better, and guitar parts as well, but all in all I think he managed to get that vintage rock/blues vibe, there is a great energy in the vocal, similar to Doors, and I really could feel in some parts that this was a genuine song - which was the most important task of the competition! smile.gif

2. Place belongs to Deleted

Prize for Deleted is:
Elixir Nanoweb Electric Guitar Strings (3 sets)

you can listen to his take here

The thing that I liked in Deleted's take is the fact that he made a cool song with cool lyrics, and vocal melody was kinda catchy. The thing I didn't really like, and it could in the end mean a 3rd place for Deleted is lots of reverb on vocals. If the vocals had less reverb it would be much better, but in general I think this take has a great value as it reminds on a real song very much as well, so my compliments! smile.gif

3. Place belongs to skennington

Prize for skennington is:
Album of my band "In the mood" (funk rock pop album on serbian language)

you can listen to his take here

skenny could easily be on the second place or possibly first, as he posted a great take that has very bluesy atmosphere. Vocals are the thing that determined hes place among the winners and good use of effects. One thing that determined 3rd place was the fact that there were little singing involved, so it sounded like a great announcement or great radio show program more than a song, but nevertheless, he managed to create very cool vibe with the track I provided and he really deserves this 3rd place! smile.gif

Winners should contact me over PM for prize details! smile.gif

Congratulations to all the winners, and a big Thank You to all who participated in this very cool competition. Your takes made it so interesting, so again, Thank you very much! smile.gif

cheers guys,
Ivan

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
