Hey guys, i just finised up the second and final song for The Obsessive Devotion story. Most of its instrumental but there is some pretty (If I do say so myself) brutal vocal and rhythm attacks near the end, I warn you its probably the loudest song I've recorded, I'm not sure why though.

Anyway, please let me know what you think, any improvements or just suggestions for me.

Lyrics, as usual

The Obsessive Devotion
Book 3: The Parting Of Water And Life
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

00:00 - 01:32
--Churning Sea

01:33 - 03:09
--The Drowning

03:10 - 03:54
--Still Waters

03:55 - 04:40
--The Parting Of Skies

04:41 - 05:01
--The Captain's Betrayal

The day had finnally broke
Over the churning seas
The water calmed to an eerie still
And land he could see

The Mariner
"They cannot have any of this
It will all be mine
A knife to each of their throats
Leave none behind"

05:02 - 06:20
--The Tempest Sings

The Siren
I am everything
You could ever hope to have
I am everyone
You could ever hope to love

I am everything
You could ever hope to lose
I am everyone
You could ever hope to hate

06:21 - 07:56
--Devoured by song

The Siren
Mariner you will never leave this place
Bound to me forevermore

Your greed has led you here
All the way to me
Now and come and meet your end

The Mariner
I have been deceived
But still I press on

Atop the jagged rocks
I have achieved
What no man has done

The Siren
You were doomed from the start
Just another prey
The Mariner
This cant be I was so close
Slowly I'm hypnotized

By the siren's song

Sorry I had the wrong version uploaded, The old one wasn't mixed or anything and was missing a solo.

The one up now is much better (And I fixed the volume issues).

Great song man!
I really like the drums and vocals, but I think you should work some on your tone, timing and vibrato to make it a bit more metal. smile.gif

Best of luck!!

Very, very cool song!
The drums sound better for each track and the vocals are great too.

But it sounds a bit out of synch at times.. especially at around 05.30 and out. It's like the drums are triggered too early or the guitars have a lower latency. No such problems in the next faster section.

The intro reminded me of a Samael - Jupiterian Vibe with the bongos smile.gif

This is pretty cool man, I love the eastern vibe in the intro! smile.gif As Trond said, check in the DAW software if the drums are well matched with the riffing, I have the feeling in some parts that drums are out of sync. Should be easy to fix tho.

Wow!, this is quite an epic track, so many different parts.
A bit long maybe?
I really enjoyed the second half when you start to growl, powerful riffing there. But I think the sound might be clipping a bit from 6:00 to 8:00? It definitely is loud!

Great job overall. Nice drums too.

The vocals are a tad off, I haven't sung in 6/4 before, or recorded in it. Thanks for noticing the guitars though, I didn't really notice, But I'll go back and check it.

I'm glad you liked the eastern vibe to, I wasn't even gonna have that in there, But I was just jamming to some weird bongo track I found online, and decided to make my own cool bongo riff and a nifty little solo in there.

Thanks for all the advice smile.gif
