I'm seeing so many of you are using a Line 6 POD, or similar. I am thinking about getting either the 2.0, or the XT. I'm finding that the XT is about $100.00 (US) more than the 2.0. Is the extra 100.00 worth it?

PodXT also allows recording via USB. I'm not sure if 2.0 allows it. Plus XT has more models & effects.

I'd say it's worth going for te XT or even X3 instead of 2.0.

Pod 2 doesn't. But you don't need it either.

If you don't have already a good soundcard, you should take the XT or X3 as in this case a USB connection is useful.

spending the extra money is ALWAYS the best choice if you can do it

in this case, you get WAY more bang for your buck.

go with the XT, and if possible, the floor version

I'm in favor of the X3, all addons came inclusive.

Otherwise, if that's a bit too big a cost the X3 or if there's any earlier model that can be used as a soundinterface.
I'm using my X3 as such and don't have a "real" soundcard so to speak. And if you get the live version of XT or X3 (if it works as sound interface too) you could use it as
- sound card for recording
- practicing
- live performance

I'm not really going to be using it for much. I am not going to be playing live, nor recording much at all. I will mainly be using it to practice with. I am (mostly) a rhythm player, and just want something that will give me 3-5 good, solid rhythm tones. I do not need 100 different effects either.

Make sure you test whatever you buy, you might not like the modeling tone. I can't stand modeling tones, a nice little practice amp with headphone out would do the same if you ask me...

If you have to go for a pod, try to get the newest possible, xt or even x3; not only do they feature more tones, effects and stuff but they also SOUND a lot better because of the better processors.

I would go with the POD 2.0.

I use mine for practise and a quick jam and I can get awesome sounds out of it. laugh.gif

When I was searching, I also looked at the POD X3 and POD XT and found them to bring to much (way to much effects and amp models for me). With my POD 2.0, I only use 2 models and the delays (together with the reverb) and get all the sounds I want/need

I've had the BOSS GT-8 and got good sounds out of it but it was way to complicated (so much knobs biggrin.gif ) and sold it because if you're on the go you might want to change some parameters real quick and it was too much hassle.

Also if you look around you can get one for peanuts (secondhand). I bought mine in a store and payed 125€ for it but for the sound I'm getting it's an absolute steal!

If your gonna check it out, and the store has a Roland Cube 15, I would recommend these settings: Bass: almost all the way down, Mid: almost all the way up and Treble: almost all the way down. These settings give it a real kick and make the POD Bass Mid and treble come through.

Yep, don't forget to check eBay.com.
The POD 2.0 is a pretty old product so you will find a lot of them at secondhand prices. smile.gif
