Well here´s my try to master the great lesson of David.
GOD - I wish I could record better (and play better as well) wink.gif

Regarding my recording challenges I will post some questions in the appropriate forum.

Looking forward to your feedback/critique... blink.gif

Cheers

This sound very interesting indeed! smile.gif I think just a bit more work on vibrato could be useful to really make the notes sing. Excellent job mate smile.gif

Very nice feedback - Cheers man!
I´m tinkering with my recording tools to get a better sound out of them and if I succeed I´ll upload a better version (with lots of vibrato laugh.gif laugh.gif )

Great sounding take! I really liked the zz-ish bends & harmonics, too. Even without polish they're very in character and sound (to me) like the correct dynamics to apply to this style.

One other stylistic trait that zz-top offers is to be "unafraid" to spend a whole measure on one fret. Not necessarily one note, as it will be bent several ways, but to feel confident whacking away at 1-2 frets for a whole measure, bending and pinching as appropriate with the mood of the song. It sounds like you're already heading in that direction.

This was a pleasure to listen to.

Edit: Duh. Upon listening again, I hear that you did exactly that one-fret measure already! Good call on your part smile.gif

Thanks jafomatic - I have tried before to play songs like "My Heads in Mississippi" and "Sleepingbag" - they sound very cool and although they sound easy they can be a Bi*** to master! laugh.gif
The whole lick is of course David Wallimanns creation - so the applause goes to him for composing this great lesson!

Nice job man!!!
I love the fact that you took the licks of the lesson and changed them a bit to fit your own feel.
There might be a little work needed on vibrato, it is something a tiny bit too fast to my taste and makes the take sound a little nervous.
But really, I love what you did there, congrats!!!

Try to control your vibrato more, otherwise is perfect...
