I just listened to all the finalists. I didn't get a chance to hear some of them before as they were lost in the clutter, and admittedly I just looked at the GMC entries and the ones where the voting went bananas...however, Muris, wow! Wow! I didn't appreciate all the trills the first time through. Wow. Good luck, Professor!

I really like the Summer Night one, thumbs up for Muris as well... but I simply cant believe that Jose didn't make it!!!

Either the Hungarian guy, or the young chap from Middle-America (he is a good shredder though and certainly can choose some exotic scales) or the one who's called Aleksandros something (that means: 3 of the 4 public choice vids) could have been easily omitted. Washed Away has a very catchy, low gain crunch chord melody, wonderful 8finger tapping lines, crazy solo and so forth....

*sighs* Well... I guess there are too many good takes that have been left out.

Once again, Muris is the man here!

Very true, public voting is what they needed for better traffic which means
more sponsors etc but 4 might be just too much if you have only 12 in final.
IMO they REALLY need to find some other way
to get more viewers and let online judges (or judges with votes combined)
to pick top 4, not only votes.
Ok, I do understand the manner of this competition and it's not fully
on technique, playability or composition, there must be some personality, even image/look etc.
But lets take a look at other "Idol" competitions,
I think there are ALWAYS judges only, right?

I think American Idol is only judged by the audience.....theoretically anyways. To be honest I hate that music is made into a competition. I've stated this before. Music is subjective.....as are many things in life. I know that Muris and the others are in this competition mostly for exposure so that they can continue to make a living doing what they love.....Music. I just wish there was a good way to judge these things......it's impossible. I loved Ivan and Jose's entries. I just think it is impossible to say that one is better than the other. It comes back to taste. Congratulations Muris......your composition is one of my all time favorites and I hope it finds it's way to your new album. smile.gif

I also pretty much hate competition in music just like you Monte
but they are running and it's nice opportunity for promotion,
to meet some important people from music industry, to be seen at the end etc.
Tho not the best will win cause there is no best. smile.gif

Aye, though I hate to make the distinction; but some may look at this as a guitar competition rather than a music competition

Bravo Muris, I knew you will end in finals !

I will make another prediction now...

I can see you or Damir winning this year. Damir's tune is Greg Howe style, you are more of Satriani style, so lets see what judges say in finals smile.gif
