It Finally Happened... I'm Burned Out...

Hi guys!
Just wanted to explain why I haven't been very active here this past month.
I'm getting burned out folks. Don't get me wrong, I love music still but since I chose to do music as a living, I slowly lost the pleasure I once felt on the instrument.
I'm sure it will come back though!
I just need some time off I think from teaching. It's hard to manage teaching at GMC (which rocks of course!), teaching my regular students locally, and finishing up some recording projects as well.
Anyways, just wanted to explain why I've been a little quiet.
I'll be back refreshed after a little break though! :-)

I can even appreciate the fact that you admit such a thing. You're making a living out of music and you still confess that it can still go on your nerves. That's wonderful attitude and I'm 200% sure you'll regain yourself in no time...

... for our benefit as well ph34r.gif

David, I have always loved your playing, lessons, collabs and the friendship / help that you have offered me .

It's kind of funny because I decided to take a break myself to, so when I read your post it made me feel better. smile.gif Thanks for that! We all need a break at some point!

I know you will be back soon, stronger and with great ideas of how to make us all better players.

Enjoy your time off bro! Everyone needs a vacation right? wink.gif

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

I'm doing the same thing myself. Every one burns out sooner or later.....no matter how much they love something. You'll know when it is time to come back. Music should be fun....even if it is your job. tongue.gif laugh.gif
