I remember reading somewhere that his frets above the 24th fret are spaced at whole tones for easier access. Not sure if that's true or not. The luthier is called Andy DeMetriou - he also used to make violins and some very beautiful acoustic guitars. He made my custom way back in the late 80s - though mine is a much more standard shape (LP Junior type). Andy gave up being a luthier a few years ago as his health suffered from exposure to all the paint and stuff - I think he now teaches master wood working skills in the SE of England.
