It will definitly boost your playing!!! Its very good to challenge yourself from time to time. But it would be wise to learn the song at slower tempo but right then to play it in original tempo but sloppy. Just try to learn a hard song piece by piece and slowly and make sure you are not "sloppy" and it will boost your playing definitely!
