Hey guys,

Lately my band has been discussing a new name for our band. While looking on wikipedia I sumpled across an article about "Luna1", the first spaceprobe to venture to the moon. Since my band Is kinda a Spacerock styled band, I thought this was a suiting name. BUT WAIT!.... THERE's MORE! ohmy.gif

Right now the drummer and vocalist are discussing wethere the name should become "Luna One" or "Luna 1".
My singer says numbers in your bandname are cheap. The drummer states that "Luna 1" is shorter, and easier to read and write. huh.gif

So here's the final question to YOU....
Wich one do you think is better? And why?
I could really use some help here, or things will get bad! Im already searching for new guitarists and drummer out of precaution (A)

Thanks in advance!

Zynex

PS: Excuse me if this is the wrong topic for this. I could'nt find any other topic that suited this question unsure.gif

Between Luna One and Luna 1 I would choose : Luna One because it looks much better and will look much better on the gig posters etc...Its a cool name by the way..

Its certainly a cool name! I would also suggest Luna One because for me numbers in a band name do sound a bit...well "cheap" as you would put it. Also, while Luna 1 would immediately suggest the name of space project/robot/probe, Luna One can be interpreted in different ways... it seems that more connotations can get attached to it.

If you're naming it after the spacecraft it has to be Luna 1 since that was it's name, nothing else.

Naming it Luna One suggests you're a spacerock style band without a clue. wink.gif

Well, we're not actually naming it after the probe itself.. it's just an inspiration. We don't want to take it to a dedication to the first moonflight or anything tongue.gif.

Because we are experimental, we think the name suits us cause we like to reach into the unknown hehe.

Well see, it's not a problem for us to name it "Luna 1", exactly after the probe... But it's not that is HAS to be the same because we want it to be the exact same as the original name persée. We're just stuck on wich of the 2 options LOOKS better. with a "1" after it or "One".

As a photographer, I think "Luna 1" looks better in print, with the "1" you can do nice thing with your bandlogo. (with is your next problem? wink.gif ) So maybe you have to design some logo's with both names and those the best one. And make your choice then. Hopefully you like the same graphics, so you don't have to look for new bandmembers blink.gif

Luna One definitely. Putting a number in your band name was very popular 10 years ago...Blink 182, Sum 41 etc. Nothing very original with numbers in your name.

I think one because it is fuller looking in writing. If it were "Luna 182", for example, it might look better. Even "Luna8." But 1's too skinny of a number by itself.
