There's a new ("new", it's been there a while now) series of amps from Marshall, check em out on the homepage, go to the "theater" you'll see it to the right for a demo of JVM and also the Vintage Modern series.

A little bit less than 1500 Euro for the Marshall head is not ridicilously expensive.

I've not played one yet but the review I read was very positive. I'll have to check it out.
