Hi, can anyone help with the following?:

I have a Hohner Custom guitar (someone out there may have seen one - I don't think they're very common, but it IS 20 years old...), with a locking nut which has 3 little clamps (2 strings each - a lot of guitars have 'em in one form or another), tightened down by knurled slotted screws.

I seem to remember seeing a locking nut a while back that didn't have screws, but had three 'flip-up' type levers, that locked down in a sort of 'cam' fashion when closed, trapping the strings. These didn't need screwdrivers or allen keys to loosen or tighten, just fingers. Does anyone know what I'm on about, and if these things actually exist? If so, where can I get one?!!

I've come across an American Patent (5932822) for another kind of locking nut with a lever on the side that loosens a group of little blocks that hold the strings. If anyone's come across this design, I'd be interested in hearing about that too.

(If I can't find these quick release things, I'll just have to change the screws on mine for some allen screws. The slots in the present screws are getting a bit chewed up...)

Thanks guys!!!! laugh.gif

There was one years ago Kevavailable on Kramer guitars and I think you could also buy them to retro fit to others. This is it 'finger tite locking nut' - I think it's the only one that has been commercially available rather than just a patent application. Kahler might sell them or you may be able to get one still but as they went out of production years ago maybe your best bet would be evilbay?

I've done a bit of searching and emailing, but it seems this device is no longer available. Some inferior copies 'did for' the original, and it didn't go into full production, which is a shame, as I'd have bought one!!
If anyone has one spare, let me know! laugh.gif
