You couldn't find an article on tapping, sweeping, AP or any kind of lead technique to save your life. I'll NEVER forgive Nirvana for that!!!!!   Dave Grohl better hope I never run into him up here in the Pacific Northwest......  I think the information availability is greater now, but 80ties music was very technically demanding, and there were some awesome players then. I don't feel that the information abundance alone is what makes people to play good, it's just their hard work. These guys used other available technologies at the time, tape recorders, books, and other stuff. In a way this is very good cause they used ear more.. Nirvana was a phenomenon when they came up, and they did change the global audience focus on grunge style, but other types of music still remained. It is normal that in decade that comes music from the last decade will be passe, but these things stay and mix, and after two decades it all returns in a different new form. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

You know though, the internet has actually been around since the 60's. it was invented as part of the technology race between the USSR and the U.S. here's a video of someone testing one of the original modems, pretty neat stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9dpXHnJXaE oh, and i think i was playing for about 4-6 before we had something other than dial up....which i never used because it was too slow.

I voted "One or two years". I did play some classic guitar when I was a little younger, and I trusted my guitar teacher with my life, but when we got a better PC with easier access to Internet and found out about GMC, I instantly started despising my teacher, knowing what insane pedagogical skill lie in sites like this !

I played a few years "before internet", back in the early 90s. Got my first guitar & used to play & sing Springsteen & U2 songs, was fun, but I was stuck, and eventually quit
 Good thing inet became popular & GMC appeared
