...I wish to fit some good quality humbuckers ( white colour) with plenty of drive etc, ... Tony Parnham Tony, is it the entire pickup that needs to be white or are you ok with just the cover? If it's the latter then you'll have a much wider choice. Covers like this one here can be got pretty easily and cheaply but I think the coice of all white humbuckers are more limited. If it's the latter I think Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio and Lindy Fralin do off the shelf white ones. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. I have a guitar fitted with a set of DiMarzio Breed humbuckers. Dark sounding pickups but the guitar body is adler which is a bright wood and they sound excellent in there. Plenty of drive in those! For the more modern sounds. My band play a modern kind of rock, on the border to metal in some cases but with blues roots in it. I'm very pleased with those.
Then I have DiMarzio Evolution in a basswood guitar, havn't played them too much since the bridge on that guitar broke. A tad more modern and bright sounding compared to the Breed but still the same pickup familiy I'd say. Thick and rich. Other "standard" combinations are Seymour Duncan 59/59 or JB/Jazz or JB/59. I think even on Seymour Duncan's homepage you can enter some criterias and have a set suggested to you. -------------------- My bands homepage

Welcome aboard man!
Humbuckers don't have drive themselves, but some can have very hot output and push the amp a bit into overdrive. Example would be hi gain EMG active pickups with some active electronics. Humbuckers can be roughly splitted into 3 categories, vintage, standard and hot. You will need a couple of hot ones my friend, and I recommend Dimarzio's Super Distortion perhaps. If you go active, check out EMG they are great for overdrive, very defined.
