Hey man, the REC is designed to "recognize" your achievements of GMC lessons. As you may have seen in another thread, copyright issues come into play and you must have certain license in order to upload famous songs and avoid any possible legal action.

With that said, unfortunately, the answer to your question is no. I'm also going to move your topic for further discussion. smile.gif

Cheers,
Steve

This IS interesting, regarding famous songs lessons at GMC.
Since we are not allowed to give backings for those lessons
I guess there is no option to post take of famous song lesson in REC?
Not talking about "other" covers ofc,
only about those that have been made as lessons for GMC. smile.gif

Interesting question and discussion here. I can definitely see why its against rules to post those songs (unless you pay copyrights) but I just can't think of possible solution.
Andy (wrk) suggested something in a thread to Kristofer yesterday - something like virtual DAW or such. Might be useful looking into smile.gif

Very interesting questions since all these covers are posted on youtube actually and not GMC...But member would need to make his own backing for the song since we can't share them.

This is a little confusing topic - so I will try to clear things out.

If I understand you correctly - you are basically asking "can I submit a famous song lesson such as Ivan's "Red Hot Chili Peppers: Otherside" to the REC program."

If this is the question, then the answer is YES you can. However an instructor can not give you the backing for downloading - you could however easily record yourself in your room with a camera and just play the backing tracks from GMC site. (the more you dampen your room - with a matress for example - to prevent room reverberations the better your sound will be)

Addition - you must upload the video to youtube and then embed it in your REC post, you may not upload it directly to GMC.

It's pretty interesting that although it's the instructors who recreate the backing for a "famous" song (they re-record and rearrange it), it still can't be used. Like in the recent RHCP backing track: the chord progression is simple, there isn't anything unique in the drums and still... it could be called a self-made track that simply emulates the original one with a similar rhythm and chord progression.

I'm sure though that GMC is not holding anything back without reason so there must be at least one appropriate paragraph in copyright law that explains where the original song ends and when a similar recreation of a track starts - even if all the credits are given to the original writer of the song. Dunno, I'm a bit curious about this.
