Do you know any song that you can show to your friends? If you know what level they are then you can pick something that you can play and help them learn it. That way they will improve and you all guys have fun jamming.

The White Stripes? could be cool to see what things you can come up with since its only one guitar.

Sounds like your in a power struggle with the other guitar player.
You guys need to work it out. smile.gif

--------------------
"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Queens of the Stone Age... they use 2 guitars I think.
You can try "I wanna make it wit chu". Learned it last week and it's pretty simple. The rhythm guitar play the same thing all over the song with the bass and the lead can solo over.

Maybe some easier songs from Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest ? Regarding blues you can always jam a 12 bar blues with that band configuration.

Living after midnight - Judas
You shook me all night long - AC/DC
Back in Black - AC/DC
Smoke one the water - Deep Purple
Iron Man - Black Sabbath
Holy Diver - Dio

Pretty easy to learn basics of those songs but still hard enough to be a good challenge to make it sound good smile.gif

EDIT: Also, if you listen to rock/metal, you all probably know how these well-known songs *should* sound which should make it easier..

Yeah, that might be tricky if you're looking for
tunes with original arrangements for 2 guitars (and bass).
Your friends are beginners and not many songs would fit them.
Almost every rock/blues song can be rearranged for 2 guitars and bass
but that needs even more skills (experience).

Try to rearange black magic woman for 2 guitars, one playing chords, and other playing solos. It's easy and good sounding. Bass is easy as well, and everybody likes to hear it.
