Please resize your pics before uploading them, it makes browsing so much more pleasant. There are simple resizing tools on all platforms. 800x600 or 1200x1000 is plenty big.

We don't need hi-rez on these pics unless you're showing a close detail. 10+MB pics are not necessary. *cough*cough*Alexiaden*cough* wink.gif

Edit: the difference is in the number of pics and the connection of the use. The forum DOES resize the pics but it does it poorly and only after they've been loaded into the page. So a number of big pics hosted at some overly-busy website somewhere takes forever to load these huge images and only after they're completely loaded will your browser finally receive the instruction to size them down.

GMC resizes them so why bother?
Or are you talking about the time it takes to load those pics until they get resized?

Fully agree, both for loading the pages, but also for unneccesary strains on the capacity of the server

Good idea. It takes lot of time to load 10 pictures of 1-2 mega.

Load time. Throughput from the GMC provider really varies depending on where you live. Sometimes it is pretty fast for me, but at other times it is kind of slow, a lesson video may stop a number of times when I load it, as throughput can't keep up. So what may not be a problem for some, will be a source of annoyance to some others.

I use Adobe products to make photos smaller in byte size. Maybe somebody can name a free open source program that will do the same.

Yes it's much better if everyone resize pics. 500 px in width is more than enough and of course screen resolution 72dpi

I agree, forum engine resizes but after they are loaded. After 5-6 pictures it is a bit unpractical.

I agree on this...Though forum does re size pictures automatically and resizing manually can take some time and software...I try to upload small ones when I can... I recommend www.imageshack.us for uploading and automatic resizing. After you upload the picture there its automatically re-sized to what you choose and you get the forum embed link to copy paste...
