I cant see the fretboard and in dont have a comfortable grip on the neck ( i cant get my thumb far enough back on the neck, which results in an uncomfortable angle on the wrist). i play with the body of the guitar resting on my stomack, and the top of the guitar is in line with my bellybotton.

Any recomendation to improve my situation?

1. Get the guitar higher to get a better grip on the neck. Playing abilities > Looks.
2. Practice standing.

:-)

Keep your guitar at the height you have it now and practice until you feel comfortable!

It takes some time and it feels really awkward at first but after some time it will get easier...

ya, i have the same situation but its because I play really low haha. See, u r basically limited to how low you can play. You can only lower your guitar down to the wrist. Unless if you go into a power stance. So in the meantime, play to where it is comfortable and dont play low because it looks cool. You will look much cool if you can play good than "just having your guitar low."

Well there might be one trick or more like hint.
Have you seen how Satch holds guitar?
Headstock is pretty high while body is low
so it's kind a narrow position.
This allows you more comfort for your fretting hand
but your picking might suffer cause bridge is now lower.
And yeah, Satch is well know by his legato playing, not picking. smile.gif

From the answers I got , it seems it narrows down to 2 things:
1) practice a lot standing
2) Making playing seated more alike playing standing (by either changing the way to play seated , moving the strap position or both).
