Dear GMCers, I would like to share few things that happened to me lately - maybe you will find something useful for yourselves in it..
Maybe some of you noticed I disappeared for almost two months. The reason was, that I was going through the hardest playing crisis till today.. I totally lost any will to play, I couldn't compose anything, I couldn't find a thing to practice anymore. It just felt like hitting HUGE concrete wall.. On the other hand, that time changed me quite a bit - I spent it with my friends and by thinking about myself and during that time I also celebrated my 19th birthday (BIG thanks to all who sent congratulations to me - I was off the internet most of the time) and now I feel like I.. well.. matured. I found a job (even tho I am going to go to university in september) I got together again with my ex-girlfriend (that was one of the most significant changes:D), I got together again with my old band and we even had a gig after 1.5 years (I will add some photos). I got huge applause for my playing at the gig btw. I found out that I can pretty well improvise with sweeping, tapping, legato and other stuff and that I even developed quite good fretboard knowdledge.. The strange thing is, that I could not do any of these before hitting that wall. I improved while not playing?!? At the end of it all, I realized I truly love music and I cant exist without it and the wall I hit was just that I had too high expectations from myself. I forgot, that art is not a contest - its a journey without an end. From that point I started practicing blues, jazz, reagge and all those gengres I didnt really care for earlier - and I feel it enriched me as person as well. I am glad to be back here:) Now lets go practicing Oh.. and this is my 666th post That ought to mean something.. PS: here are the photos as promised:) E-cookies to those, who can guess which one I am This post has been edited by Jakub Luptovec: Aug 8 2009, 03:43 PM -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus

Welcome back, Jabub! I've been wondering where you've gone..
Sounds like you've had quite a growth period! Sometimes the best thing to do is to take a break, as you've done, and reflect a bit. And now you know that you love music ^^ -------------------- GMC is not just a website... It's a lifestyle!

Great you're back!!. Sometimes, we expect a lot of thing from ourselves and sometimes, without results, it makes you disappoint. But don't forget that music is a language. If you have a good message, you just have to find the way to make others listen to you. No one knows it all. As long as you're happy with yourself and know that you're doing all that you can to grow as musician everyday, you're in the right way!
