Hi there all GMCers!

I haven´t been logged in here for a time now, but yesterday i decided to learn som stuff here.
My problem is that a short streaming video take up to 2-3 minuites to buffer, and thats kinda anoying becouse I have to stream it all over again if i should shut down the internet.
I havent had this problem before, and my it is nothing wrong with my internet.
Is it becouse GMC is slow to stream, or is it my internet browsers fault (I use mozilla firefox)
I have tried with Internet Explorer to, but it takes the same time there.
Am i the only one experiencing this?
Is there any way to make it faster?

Leon

I sometimes get that when I am on my laptop with broadband card. Here is what works for me on slow connections. As soon as the video starts loading, pause it, and wait a few minutes for the video to buffer and then play it. You might have to do this 2 or 3 times during the video to get it fully loaded. Give it a try and don't let it frustrate you. Hope this helps.

p.s. I didn't mean to imply you have a slow internet connection. Just pointing out what works for me when any site slows down because of latency or traffic. I sometimes have to do this on cable as well.

I had a problem about 6 or 7 hours ago. I could not get any video at all. It has cleared up. I think they had a temporary problem yesterday. The GMC server that serves my computer in Kansas is located, let's see, in Houston. I expect that as you had not been on for awhile, you just came back at the wrong time. When there is a problem, the fault is not always at the Server, can be the public network, or your provider. My video has never been problematic (with cable access), except this one time last night.

Find "Preferences" in your browser and increase the "cache" size to as much as you can - this can hopefully be a solution.

My internet explorer is in Swedish - but I think it's "Tools">"Internet alternatives">"Misc">"temporary internet files">"settings" and you should be able to increase cache size with some megabytes.

I think something is wrong on the GMC side. My streaming is so slow that its almost useless. This is different from when I first joined about a month ago.
I have paused to let it advance but I ran into the video freezing up when not even close to where the stream had advanced. This is with the Pentatonic Scale Position Shifting video. Just tried the 2nd P. Scale shift video. Same thing. Only allows viewing up to about half way even though it looks as if the whole video has downloaded. My connection is very fast so I don't think its my problem. Also, even if it does work all the way to the end how do you stop it from recycling back to the beginning so you don't have to go through the download process all over again?

Something's definitely up, as this problem showed up for me this morning. My connection is plenty fast, but the videos are all streaming at really slow rates. This wasnt the case a day or two ago.

Today it was slow for me aswell. havent had this problem earlier, even though its not really much of a problem, it just takes 20sec longer to start the movie.

I made a mistake in my previous post. Thought by the look of the progress bar that it was freezing half way through. Well it was actually at the end of the feed but looked like it was in the middle because of the position of the progress pointer. So this is not a problem. Feed is stil slow however. My download used to be able to keep right up with it. Anyway not as big a problem as I thought.

We had a little more visits than usual yesteraday which explains the slower streaming.

If the problem should become permanent we need to switch server (again!) - if you at anytime feel that things are slower than usual (at specific times of the day or just generally), please pm me as I need to monitor our server's performance.

Kris
