Did anyone try this?
I am thinking of getting quality logitech webcam for my picture-in-picture videos, so that the small video will be recorder with the webcam, and the main video will be recorded with my regular DV cam. DV cam is connected via Firewire and webcam will be connected via USB Is there a way of capturing both videos at the same time with ease? Possibly in Vegas Pro 8 ? -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I believe you can arm those tracks for recording just like the ones for audio. I don't know how heavy it will be on your computer's processor, but it looks like the technology is there.
I don't have a second camera with which to test this, sorry. -------------------- ::jafomatic

Yeah. That would be nice.
I've been thinking of setting up 2 computers to shot out videos from 2 angles, but doing it with one would be better for sure! I am sure Andrew will have something to add. I remember this video collab where he had awesome takes... -------------------- my "Thank you GMC!" video

I am also very curious now as I have two camcorders and would love to try to capture them at the same time!

I think Andrew might be away on vacation! However this could perhaps be the solution:

Hmm, I tried it, but works only with USB webcams. I'll try to think up some way to do it. I know Vegas has an option for multiple cam capturing, I just cannot find it yet

I am really interested in this one as well! I don't think though its possible to capture two streams in vegas, especially from firewire and usb. Vegas has multicam option but its for editing mode, not capture. (which works really well btw)
Now you could capture from firewire cam in vegas and at the same time capture the webcam in some web cam specific software. (one that comes with logitec cam for example)...I guess it could work as those are two completely different sources. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

Thanks for the tip Bogdan, will try that way. That seems reasonable enough, just wanted to make sure that there isn't that option in Vegas. Some third party capturing app will handle this job then

I have Hercules deluxe webcam and its corresponding recording software, tried several times but just I'm not satisfied
with resolution ! I think that all webcams have that problem of granular images Haven't tried to edit it, well i might be surprised.. Find one that has a microphone of course, for easy sync . edit: look at this one ,a new HD webcam same brand, for 60$ !!! HERE This post has been edited by Sinisa Cekic: Aug 31 2009, 12:31 PM |

Hmm I'm a bit sceptical about this webcam being able to capture 30fps @ 720p and that costs 60$, but I would definitely like to see it in action. It would be awesome if the video quality would be good.

Let me know how it works! It would be an interesting option for PiP videos Unfortunately I couldn't manage. In Vegas I couldn't set the source for both cameras at the same time. I opened Premiere Pro and Vegas at the same time. Premiere was capturing my webcam but the picture was all black Only Vegas did the job with the normal camera. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Hmm, perhaps using one lightweight capturing software for webcam, instead of heavy artillery Premiere

Sorry for being late - I don;t believe it is possible in Vegas, although it is a cool idea!
Adobe has a program called "On Location" used for capture that seems to be a lot more sophisticated, maybe that could do it, but you would need the Adobe Creative Suite which is a little expensive. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Thanks for the clarification Andrew. It seems rather strange that they didn't implement this feature, maybe in some next version.

That's some interesting info Andrew! So that new adobe program "On Location" is able to capture simultaneously 2 firewire cams on one PC? That would be really sweet option. I do have 4 firewire inputs on my PC so I guess its not impossible. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I do have 4 firewire inputs on my PC so I guess its not impossible. I'm not sure that it can now I have Adobe Production suite so I have the program and I checked into it a little more after I posted and I don't think it can do it. I would guess that one concern would be the ability of a firewire controller to handle 2 streams at once - 2 PCs for capture may be the only option here. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
