After long a painstaking search on the web, reading numerous articles from tone gurus, and amp veterans, I finally gave up from getting a Marshall head. The cliche saying:" They don't make them like they used too" is definitely true. If I cannot get a real 68 Plexi head, no point in getting reissue one, since it is way from the original design ( and it costs a LOT more than really worth).
Instead of that, I've found a very cool head yesterday, and it is the Hiwatt Custom 100 head: It's darker than Marshall, and more cleaner, less aggressive, but great clean sound and classic british rock tone. Lot louder than Marshall and more punchier tone as well, VERY dynamic amp. I got it really cheap as well 1300e for brand new head. On the internet their price is lot bigger, so I think it will be a great platform to build the sound on. People who were famous by use of these amps were Dave Gilmour, and Pete Townshend, but many other artists used them as well. Thanks guys. The head is trully amazing, and very vintage like. Although it looks a lot like Marshall Super Lead Heads, the actual circuit and sound are very different. There are some settings where these two amps meet in terms of tone, but that is a very brief moment. This amp can roar!
Check out the point to point military grade wiring inside, simplicity at it's best, nothing to stand in way of tone: -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I'm agree with you Ivan. Marshall is far to be what it was. I have a 1975 Marshall MkII and no other Marshall head or reissue is close to compare with my head (Or at least what I tried). That head is a really nice choice, it has a very nice clean sound. Congrats for that man!!

Congratulations, great choice of amp and what a great price for a handwired 100W amp! Like 50% off. That's a keeper! Yeah I was a bit suspicious about the price in the beginning but I was assured it was new, and looks and sounds brand new. I think it was a mistake in the order, this is why the price is lowered down. Really nice amp Ivan! I am a fan of the Plexi tone also and have heard some good thing about these Hiwatt heads. Will you be giving us a review and/or some sound clips when you get everything dialed in? It would also be nice to know what speaker cabinet you are running it through. Congrats Will do man, thanks. AWESOME Ivan Hiwatt makes some excellent amps! I've not played one myself, but I've heard a few in action, and they do sound great Congratulations mate! I'll post some decent clips as soon as I have the chance, thanks mate! Looks great man. Congratulations. I hope it will serve you as you wish Thanks my friend, will try to make best of it. They started to change circuit and cab materials a lot around circa 71-73, but back in those days it was still built to last. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

MG series, new JMC 900, Zakk Wylde's signature model, and tI was like "Is this the new "amazing" stuff?". It was really disappointing. -------------------- Check out my lessons!
