I think it'd be awesome if you could access the forum and maybe even select videos from the library on your iPhone. Any thoughts? smile.gif

You can access the forum with the browser of the iPhone. There are some apps which can connect to different forum types. GMC's IP.board is supported, but the one i tried didn't worked really well ...

The iPhone does not support flash, so the lessons are not accessible sad.gif ... but embedded youtube links are working.

yea a native iphone app would be awesome. there has to be a couple developers that also happen to play guitar and study at GMC smile.gif it would also open up a world of possibilities to include more members and more instructors to expand our guitar minds

That's your biggest hurdle.

I'm afraid the decision came from Apple to not support flash. Adobe is working since a while on an iPhone flash plugin ... didn't followed the latest news thought.

Anyway, the iPhone SDK supports video streaming, so it should be possible to build an app to search and display videos. The lessons are already streamed in mp4 format which is supported as well, ... GMC would need to provide an interface for that and some motivated developer can start working ... wink.gif ... biggrin.gif

Ehehe this would be so cool to have an Iphone GMC app where you can access all the major GMC features smile.gif I don't know how hard is to develop one though, and flash streaming can be a problem...

Actually, development for iPhone is pretty easy...given that you have some for of Mac. A buddy of mine and I were going to start a small iPhone game/utility app company...but he's since had life issues and we never really got anything started due to neither of us having a mac.

As far as $$$...it'd still cost someone $100 to be licensed as an iPhone App developer and be allowed to download the SDK. But once that's there...and you have a Mac to compile on...it's just like any other programming language.

And about the Flash support...I believe it's because Apple is working on a proprietary "flash-like" protocol. But that's just speculation in the IT world right now.

lol it's funny, I hadn't posted this topic cause I thought it already was...never actually bothered to look though 8(

..

Actually to download the iPhone SDK is free and the main development can be done to use the integrated iPhone simulator in Xcode, but you need to pay the $100 if you want to transfer the app to your iPhone for testing and later to access the app store.

It would definitely be cool. Not sure if Apple would allow since it is for commercial use, but I'm not an expert, possibly I'm mistaken about it.

Flash is going to be a problem on 3.0 version of OS for iPhone, and for the iPhone 3GS and bellow versions, but for a second generation they will have the flash supported probably.

There is only one smartphone that enables Flash, since the company has signed contract with Adobe, and that is HTC Hero (with Android OS).
