Hey, I got question...
is anyone familiar with drum machins + how did you like those?
I'm thinking about it, since I always see Joe Stum jamming to just a drum machine, and at the start you can almost always see/hear him dial in the drum speed etc....
Also I would love it to practise too, since I can't really stand a metronome:D
So... these things are quite expensive arent they?

An option would be a loop stations? Then you can either record a little beat on your guitar, or even better a short backing track!

There are few but as I told in chat earlier,
you really don't need any of these units today for practicing etc
if you have a PC as you do. smile.gif

Guitar Pro is all that you need. Just draw your beats and rhythm parts and sample it with any drum plugin. It is cheaper and easier than any drum machine

Jesse, don't you have a CD player in your room? Just create some beats on PC, then export to the CD?

I think it is not so smart to give 150 $ just for practicing, you can do it in Cubase with some AD drums or similar...
I mean ad 100$ and buy EEE PC

Hehehe you mean GUITAR study ? wink.gif

ehheeh

Jesse I completely understand you. I also always wanted the hardware drum machine for practice, I guess something like this would be cool investing in: http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.co...-DR3?sku=700510

I agree with Vasilije. I bought netbook recently and I use it for practicing as well. It pays out man, I can keep lessons on it and work with it, it has ~4 hours of battery life, and internet as well.

if you do need rhythm machine, Pandora may be a good thing to consider.

I have the BOSS DR-880 (as you can see in my signature), so I will give my opinion about the DR-880.

It is most definetly my most unused piece of gear !!!

My experience with them comes to:
- They cost way to much money for what they offer.
- To imput drumtracks (and especially on my DR-880), you'll spend hours upon hours you could have been practising guitar. You have to imput EVERYTHING seperatly: the bassdrum, the snares, the toms, .... . With others it might be different but with mine it wasn't.
- The option to drum using the drum pad is absolutely impossible. (Cheap pads, ....)
- The only possitive thing I can think off is: when you're set up, the sound is better than using a metronome but certainly not worth the money.

I'd stick with my metronome if I were you wink.gif
