My favorite Digital Audio Workstation is Sonar. I am also familiar with Cubase and some others. I've been using Cakewalk products since 1997. In my oppinion all industry standard DAWs work the same, it's just about what you first become familiar with. Current Sonar is 8 but I am still using Sonar 7 Producer Edition.

If you have any questions about the sequencing software and and especially recording techniques in Sonar feel free to ask here.

Hi Emir,

you told me about the drums you use from SONAR. Do you use any pad/synths from sonar/cakewalks built in plug-ins? Like the one from the Symphony X lesson is it from sonar?.

Thanks
-Eric

I do. TTS-1 has it all. It's a full set of GM sounds. Not really high pro quality but they can do the job for a demo. Almost all my GMC lessons use that one. Sometimes I use Hypersonic 2 and Bandstand for GM synths but that doesn't come with Sonar.

Hello Emir,

I am currently trying to make a backing track using Cubase with EZdrummer as a VST. I believe I am familiar with EZdrummer, but I am having some issues with Cubase.

The problem is basically in getting sound when playing a MIDI track (from EZdrummer) in Cubase.

1. I open Cubase
2. New project (empty)
3. Add MIDI track
4. Add VST Instrument / EZdrummer
5. "Open Groove" in EZdrummer and "drag" into Cubase.
6. Press "play" (monitor sound turned on)

... This is where there is no sound. I am also having trouble opening the Drum Map so I can manually create beats. Please reply as soon as possible, I really need to get this figured out by tomorrow sad.gif
