Hey people! I just stumbled across GMC an hour ago while searching Google for a Freddie King "Hide Away" backing track. A GMC forum thread came up and I started browsing your website and found it was the answer my prayers haha.

(Keep reading if you're bored - if not, see you around and glad to be on here!)

-------------------------------

I'm Brandon Earman.. 21 years old from Texas. I got my first guitar when I was 11. Had a few guitar teachers, a couple not so great and one (classical teacher) who was incredible. I haven't taken lessons since I was 15. Up until this past year, I have always taken guitar for granted and just not thought too much of it. I would play for hours a day and then not touch the guitar for a month.

Within the past year I've really started playing and wishing I would have poured everything I had into guitar since day one. I've been studying artists such as Stevie Ray, David Gilmour, Freddie King, and others. Any guitar playing that has soul and feel to it I can listen to for hours. I'm sure all of you here are in the same boat.

So here I am, playing along with backing tracks in my room and trying to figure stuff out without a teacher (which I'm not as good as others at teaching myself). I feel GMC is a well rounded, elaborate resource for just about anything I'll need to boost my learning.

Last, here's my equipment situation. Up until the past year, I played an Ibanez RG 350-DX (the Steve Vai knock off) and Digitech RP300 through a tiny Marshall G10. I decided it's time to upgrade and got a used Fender Hot Rod Deluxe which has got me blowin' the house down with incredible tone. I got a TS-9 Tube Screamer and a Korg Pitchblack tuner. Next on the list is (after months of debating and research)a new American Standard Strat which my heart is set on. After that I plan on working on the pedal board and going even more broke.

Anyways... I'm done rambling. See y'all around. I promise my future posts won't be so lengthy!

Welcome to GMC, neighbor!

Two things to get you started:

1. You're going to want to check out the lessons from this instructor. in general. He suits your requirements for influences, as do many other instructors here.

2. You might want to look into a proper recording interface before getting more pedals.

Enjoy your music journey, don't be afraid to ask for help.
