Prism Sound have just announced that SADiE 6 is set for winter 2009. Part of the big news here is that it will also include a native version smile.gif.

Not sure if I'm the only one who uses SADiE but this could represent a more cost effective way in for people.

Looks great, I just checked it out, and they made some great implementations in the new version. It's pricey, but as you said, they are trying to make it affordable to small users as well.
I heard Sadie is a great company with top notch support, but never used any of their platform based products. Even if I could buy them (I don't have the money/needs for it), I can't find them in my country, I guess the dealers gave up long time ago when they saw no one will get it around here. smile.gif

Spot on Ivan. SADiE, along with Pyramix, Sequoia and Soundblade are pro orientated and priced even above Nuendo. Having said that you pay to get both the support, integration (with the old hardware) and arguably the best audio and editing/mastering with these. We use SADiE here mainly for training and radio broadcast material that we
freelance.

The UK facility that we have access to also use SADiE - they've just invested 150,000UK sterling back in April in v5.4 - guess the upgrade there will be expensive wink.gif.

Man, their DAWs are top notch. The price might turn heads upside down on many people, but in the end, reliability is what counts. Going native will be an nice turnaround, will be interesting to see the comments.

What package are you using tony? Can you tell us a bit about the software and the plugins involved?

I think a large part of the price is the support you get Ivan. If you work in broadcast you can't afford to have a studio go off air so paying for SADiE is worth it as they offer really good support.

Here we use a PCM2 set up running SADiEv5. We use it partly for training broadcast engineers and djs and partly for our own broadcast and location work and tend to see it as the move up from Audition (or Cool Edit as we still have CE). Some of the things we really like is the proper non-destructive editing and the speed where we can do multiple level edits in seconds. My wife was brought up on SADiE (she has over 25 years in broadcast and has won multiple Sony awards) so gets around it very fast. Once you get used to editing on SADiE very few other sequencers are as good for speed and work flow (pyramix and seqouia are two exceptions). Although we don't do live broadcast here the realtime editing of an incoming stream is a big plus for broadcast.

For plug ins we use the mastering pack as we have to print to cd/cd-r and then send to radio stations in full red book with isrc. SADiE also lets us project manage this as well so we can keep a good reign on different versions to print and also batch print and print multi format. Project management is also great here for printing off the track data for the stations to integrate in to their returns to the PRA.

We also have the vst pack to let us use the various vst plug ins we have here. We also use the CEDAR retouch plug as we do a fair bit of location work. Next one coming up is to record and broadcast an international poetry festival - that's outdoors so retouch is very useful at getting rid of random audience noise and traffic.

The UK facility that we use has multiple PCM-H8 workstations with the full hardware control panel and the full CEDAR suite and the Prism hi dither as well. They also have 2 LRXs and 2 PCM2s - though they don't ever seem to use them as the only location work they do is voice interview usually to a marantz recorder (they have about 20).

BTW - rumour has it that the native v6 will be about 2250Euros.

That's a great piece of info tony, thanks a lot man. You are really doing serious business out there, wasn't aware of it until now. I will bookmark the thread for SADiE reference, thanks again! smile.gif

Thanks for the compliment Ivan smile.gif . I'd have to say that it's my wife who is the star here though - I'm more the tech head tape op wink.gif .
