Aha! Thanks for this tip! I thought there had to be something like this, but it's too bad there's such a discouraging history of it being almost-but-not-quite ready for release. However, following the trail via google I also found LittleBigStar

http://littlebigstar.net/main/

which is similar, free of cost and available now (but its a hobby project and only for Windows, which I don't have). Has anyone here tried it?

I downloaded it and it seems to be pretty cool!

It detects my guitar notes perfectly (playing over my PodXt-->usb-->computer, just like i record)

It only comes with some finrger exersizes, no songs, because of copyright reasons..
But, you can make Any song work in it smile.gif you just need a good GuitarPro file and mp3 of the song

Ive only tested the excersizes sofar cause adding song is a bit harder to do.

Ill try to make a little video of it sometime soon smile.gif

The people who make Little Big Star have apparently sold the technology or entered into a new venture called Offbeat, developed by a Danish company called Jam Origin.

This may be something revolutionary and very welcomed.

This looks promising! smile.gif Really guitar hero game would be awesome smile.gif

Regarding Rockband vs Guitar hero - both versions now have support for full band (drums, bass ,vocals) so I wound go with Guitar Hero smile.gif

i eagerly look forward to any game type product where i can plug my guitar in. my wife got me GH 3 for the PS and i suck big time at it. the first time i played it i was getting a 21% score and then my wife (who has never picked up a guitar, or even a playstation controller) got 92%. i was horrified. my little boy even scored higher than me and he was 5 at the time.
couldnt help but try to play the game like a real instrument.

I have guitar Hero and it is fun, specially in partys when a lot of people play, I never tried Rockband though, so no idea if it is any better or worse, should be about the same I guess.
