Hey GMC ive been looking into getting either rockband or guitar hero
anyone know which is more entertaining? |

I had the same question a couple months ago myself. I went with Guitar Hero and the kids (3, 6 and 8) all love it. And as far as I understand there's more songs to fin there, but Rockband 2 has better drums.

i had rock band 2 and GH WT, they are esentially the same game.
The deciding factors are : Track lists Feel of the equipment Altho the real things is far better, the games are awesome fun to play, especially with a group of friends -------------------- When I look in the mirror I see a face-melting guitar shredder.... maybe my mirror tells the future?

I like Guitar Hero much more.
I like the tracklists of GH, and hate the square notes on screen in rockband  GH 4 (world Tour) and GH 5 have drums, wich have symbals too (rockbands drumset doesnt) And in GH 5 you can even choose all 4 instruments (like you could all 4 play guitar or even all 4 drums )For tracklist GH3 is best of all for me, but thats only 2 players (guitar+bass), to make the tracklist even more awesome you need to buy a 3song trackpack, but then you can play For the Love of God, Surfing with the Alien and Soothsayer! And you shouldn't compare this to the real thing.. its a game and its lots of fun to do with friends QUOTE How about if you could plug in a real guitar, and get instantaneous feedback on rhythm and pitch accuracy? Some time ago some guy --that I don't speak with anymore-- showed me a "real" guitar hero style teaching system. I'm not sure if it was a midi pickup or what but there was an attachment, plus some other device, a tv/monitor hookup, etc, and the purpose was as stated in this thread: real time rhythm & pitch detection. It supposedly teaches you how to play in the same style as guitar hero, but with a real instrument and real techniques.

Thanks for this tip! I thought there had to be something like this, but it's too bad there's such a discouraging history of it being almost-but-not-quite ready for release. However, following the trail via google I also found LittleBigStar http://littlebigstar.net/main/ which is similar, free of cost and available now (but its a hobby project and only for Windows, which I don't have). Has anyone here tried it? |
