Theory Book For Recomenation, What would you recomned?

Hello guys!

I would like to get a decent/good theory book but which one? Perhaps someone has some experience with this...I know Pedja mentiond one book but I can't remember the name..I just remember him saying that 'it's worth stealing' biggrin.gif

Any help will be appreciated.

If it's still in print 'Chord Chemistry' by Ted Greene. It's wonderful for explaining how chords are constructed and how they may be substituted. Maybe also check out some of the guitar theory primers from Steve Kahn and Mike Stern.

For something not directly guitar orientated but music theory more generally: Nicolas Slonimsky's 'Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns'.

Hi!

Thank you for your replies!..I know there is a lot of theory around the web and this site, but I still would like to have a hard copy to be able to crary it arround a read when I'm on a trip/vacation - somwhere where I don't have internet access etc...And also to keep it as a refference point.

I will deffinetly check the mentioned books!
