That's right, I might go from 65 transistor watts to 15 fender watts! And well for this,

http://www.musik-produktiv.de/fender-ameri...ed-edition.aspx

An all tube fender Blues Junior combo + Ibanez Tubescreamer.

I mean, it's all tube, and I think it's loud enough for in the bedroom and stuff, is it?

Can I like play small gigs with it when its miced up?

Now I'm playing trough a 65 transistor fender amp with my pod...reason for the pod is, to control the volume level, I can't even dial it in to 2!

None, in the bedroom, I mean. Otherwise I use Marshall JMP 2103, Fender Blues Deluxe, AER 60 (for jazz), GR 3 for recording sometimes and mostly when i practice - no amp at all, cause You can be cheated by a great sound instead of focusing on the core technique. I was thinking of putting lighter string on my acoustic, and practice on that, but it had stayed in "thinking" - like so much else... tongue.gif

That fender looks like a cool little amp! It may be loud for bedroom , but you can get the attenuator (to avoid turning up volume too much in search for tone). I think it will serve you well for gigs as long as its miced and there are monitors on stage (for band to hear your playing well).

Congratulations Jesse, nice amp! smile.gif

15W is definitely way too loud for the bedroom, you can put it on 5 and it will already be unbearable in some situations. You will get a lot of "Jesse turn it down a little" from your family in the future that's for sure. Tube amp just asks for you to crank it, all the sweetness is when it is cranked.

As far as gigging goes, this amp is too weak for most gigs, but not in a sense that it cannot be used for PA. There are couple of other problems. Although amps are usually miced and go to PA, not all clubs have monitoring system, so amp itself serves as a monitor on stage. If they do have monitor system - you can use the amp no problem, just ask the sound tech guy to place the sound of your amp into everyone's monitors including yourself and it will be OK. If the stage doesn't have monitor speakers, you can mic the amp and still play, but then two things will happen:

1. little headroom (you will play the amp cranked and have very little clean sound, most of your playing will be distorted)
2. no sound on stage (amp will be pointed to you, and you will probably hear it a bit, if you raise it up on some stand, but other bandmembers will hardly hear what you play)

Well, a Solidstate and a tube amp can't be compared. The 2 will likely be equally loud, but the tube amp needs to be pushed to get the creamy, compressed sound.

So, on the other hand, do you crank the 65 watt you have now when practicing?

It will be too loud cranked, you'll need as stomp as you already plan getting.

My AC4 at 4 Watts is too loud. At 1 Watt is also too loud. And what's more, at 0.25 Watts, it's still too loud (makes the windows rattle!). Go figure!

Like everyone else has said, that blues jr is gonna be too loud for your bedroom. Of course you can keep the volume low, but as Ivan said, it sounds so much better when cranked.

I use a Blues Jr to play live at church and it gives me plenty of volume. We play loud, too. Probably not as loud as a regular band gig, but still loud enough that we have to yell at each other on stage playing only a few feet away.

I've still got tons of volume to spare, too. There are 2 volume knobs (volume and master) I keep one on about 3 and one on about 5 or 6 I believe. I mic my amp and have it sitting about 3 feet in front of my angled up at me. It serves as my monitor so I can hear myself, and the mic sends it plenty loud out through the PA system.

I played that amp not too long ago when I was searching for a Fender tube amp. It sounds BEAUTIFUL! I went with the Princeton Reverb Recording Amp that had the built in attenuator so I can crank it up for the nice breakup, but turn the attenuator down so it is a bearable volume. You should check it out, you may change your mind!

I had my eye on that one a year ago, I bet it sounds sweet clean & overdrive. Does it crank well with the attenuator? I guess it's an actual wheel you can spin to make it quieter right?
Does it take distortion pedals well?

Actually it sounds amazing. The clean tone is like nothing I have ever played on before. You can nice breakup when you crank up the volume, kick in the overdrive and turn the attenuator up so it is at a proper listening volume! The only pedal I own is the metal muff and it sounds killer! It really is the best of both worlds. I also got mine at an unreal price...$800 brand new at a Fourth of July sale!!!

Hey Jesse my man,

I had exactly the same problem mate, I really liked the Blues Jnr but even though its bloody loud for 15w i had doubts about gigs etc
You should try the Blues deluxe reissue, its 40w and it is insanely loud (I did a pub gig with the master on 3-4!) and it sounds AMAZING with a tube screamer, it has fx loop, 2 channels, footswitch, bright channel and an out for a 1x12 extension cab, the Blues jnr has none of these features. Its also super nice to look at in tweed AND its really not much more than a blues jnr, it can do bedroom levels (Just!) and there are some little plastic box of tricks thingys called Deanos amp booster (20 quid off ebay, look it up) that sit in the fx loop and pushes the tubes in the preamp to break up to get a sweeter sound at lower volumes.
