I can mention some of mine, but not in any specific order, except that the fact
Petrucci = my god! Else than that: Steve Vai - some cheesy music, but he`s insanely good, and plays it so easily) Muris Varajic - Muris is up with the A-team as well, without a doubt Guthrie Govan Yngwie Malmsteen - the developer of shred? Steve Morse - the worlds most versatile guitar player? Satriani - I feel he cares more about the music than the shred, even though he`s kicking most peoples asses techniqual wise aswell) Andy Mckee - not a shredder, but wild technique Paul Gilbert - black belt in string skipping Michael Angelo - I just find him entertaining while shredding at the quad guitar! If he had two more hands, I bet he`d shred all necks simultanously and ofcourse: gotte love THIS guy -------------------- Take your music seriously, but not yourself

Paul Gilbert Yngwie Malmsteen Guthrie Govan Michael Angelo These are all great technical players and also their music makes sense unlike thousands of meaningless shredders. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

I see it every day Monte Can't really stand it. +1000000000000 If there is something that bores me to death then it is people playing ultra fast and technical only for the sake of doing it, or showing off. A single bent note with a good vibrato means much more to me than scales played at the speed of light. But thats all a matter of taste I guess. -------------------- Guitars: various Gibson Les Pauls / Gibson J 45

A single bent note with a good vibrato means much more to me than scales played at the speed of light. Well said Marcus. And also that single note is more difficult to execute properly than 30 notes per second -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

I dont agree on that It's really a personal preference but I prefer some slow and cool SRV blues solo than some crazy Rusty Cooley style of shredding. I like to play fast stuff but I also try to make my melody with some logical structure. Most modern shredders are playing random notes and weird scale shapes in the speed of light. That's something that I do respect but not necessarily enjoy when it comes to musicality. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

from what I saw Shawn Lane!
Being technical doesn't just mean you can play fast, but Shawn has universal picking, good for EVERYTHING! -------------------- |
