its not what you take with you, but what you leave behind that defines greatness

Haha. Thats a fine choice indeed.

My favorite guitar players are Jeff Loomis, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Andy Mckee, Antione Dufour, Buckethead , Zakk Wylde, Malmsteen, Steve Morse, Steve Lukather, George Lynch and thats all I can think of right now.

For guitarists in Bands, I like the Chili Peppers alot. John rocks.

I like Pantera, Dime Rocks.

I also really enjoy Megadeth, Mastodon, All That Remains, and August Burns Red. Lots of great players in all these bands.

Guess I am showing my age but my favourite guitarists would be.

Paul Kossoff in Free
Carlos in Santana
Brian May in Queen
Peter Green In Early Fleetwood Mac
Jan Ackerman in Focus
Kieth in The Stones
Pete Townsend of The Who
Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits
Johnny Marr of The Smiths
Mick Ronson of 'The Spiders From Mars' Bowies early band!

'Solo' guitarists would include

Rory Ghalagher
Ralph McTell
Gordon Giltrap
James Taylor
Mike Oldfield

And apart from that lot, anyone better than me (which is everyone! especially at GMC) because basically I admire all guitarists.

The great thing about all of teh above is that after a few note you know who it is, they all have their own sound/style/tone.

As in many things these choices are subjective.

I have a lot of bands to list, but I think that my main influence will always be Jason Becker
