Yes they do, they are amazing muscians and have developed alot since there 2nd album Ascendancy, i love everything about them, ive been a fan since they were just a local band down in florida where i live, and to see how far they come is just awesome.

Trivium kick ass, there live shows are great as well, they do Perfectly live, it reminds of maiden in the sense that there live stuff is better than there studio stuff.

I love Trivium's guitar play, but I am dead tired at all the metal bands who "growl" (scream) when they sing. I do know Trivium is trying to get away from that, and thats great but in any case his voice simply isn't good enough. He should hire a proper singer, and stop trying to be some kind of mini-Hetfield.

Heafy sounds ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like hetfield at any stage in his career, ive never heard heafys vocals and thought "That sounds like James Hetfield"

EVER.

I have to disagree. I remember one day I was listening to a heavy metal station on XM Radio and they played Rising off of Trivium's The Crusade right before one of Metallica's songs... I don't remember which one but I'm pretty sure it was off of the black album. I admit that when I heard the vocals I was shocked at how close they were. James Hetfield has a slightly different 'style', i guess is a good way to put it, but the tones of their voices are near identical. If you really want to compare them, listen to something off of the black album and something else off of the Crusade ... say, Rising or Contempt Breeds Contamination and tell me they're not at least similar.
One of the big differences I noticed was that James puts a lot more vibratto in his voice than Matt. But I think that just came with experience.

But for those people that say Matt's voice sucks, try going from doing pure hardcore growls/screams to clean growls (kind of a paradox there, but okay wink.gif ), it's going to take some time for his vocal cords to get used to it since you use different muscles to sing that way. I look for big things off of their next album (both Metallica and Trivium biggrin.gif )

I still find absolutely no resemblance between Hetfield and Heafy, i can lsiten to Black Album, nd then The Crusade, and i can HONESTLY Say...

"Man, i will never mistake these guys for each other, they sound nothing alike"

What I do like about Trivium is that they know the value of a good ol' fashioned riff wink.gif

I'm so tired of hearing these whiney emo bands (no offense to anyone out there tongue.gif) who just strum the same power chord fairly quickly, only changing every now and then. No variety at all.

And I prefer Matt when he actually sings to when he growls. There is something about his voice I like. Don't quite know what.

SOMETIMES I can kind of see what people mean about Heafy and Hetfield - but it's only for very short snippets. Usually I find they sound nothing alike
I do like Trivium though biggrin.gif

I think trivium write some of the best new riffs, Contempt breed Contamination is aswesome, and the song The Crusade is full of kick ass riffs.

I have also seen them live. They were on before Maiden. And although they weren't even in the same class as Maiden they were, in my opinion, very good. I've listened to one of their albums and again I think it is very good.

I seen them live early this year, I wasn't so impressed, it was at a festival tho. So i stayed for 5 minutes and then went outside and some awesome local band was playing some real sweet blues music. Yeah smile.gif

Oh and don't get me wrong they are very good musicians. Just the sound was horrible. Blame the sound tech i think tongue.gif

Thats why i usualy dont like festivals most bands that have to play shorter sets, cant really show all there stuff in that short period of time, when i saw them on March 31st, they got to play over an hour, and that was one of the most intense hours of life, Dead on perfect performance!

Big trivium fan, saw them opening for maiden <as someone else on this thread posted> I find i can listen to Ascendancy and appreciate the song writing, the harmonies and the creativeness and have a good head bang at the same time- i'll just listen to the album all the way through. With the crusade i have to pick and choose tracks that have my favourite guitar ideas/solos in it, though i can listen to most songs all the way through i often choose not to. Detonation, To the Rats, The Rising, and The Crusade were great though. Can't wait for a next album though.
Matt Heafy and Corey Boleyoleyiuoiieoaoi are prety damn awesome guitarists in my opinion- anyone seen the "In the Fire" solo by the Roadrunner collaboration?

I dislike Trivium immensely. I dont think they even qualify as proper metal, unless you take them on the basis of their first EP.

The Crusades was just horrible. Complete Metallica ripp-off and I don't like their music either. Nothing special or new, which is really what Metal should be about, even Metalcore as exhibited in this case.

This is all however, IMO.

Yeah ive seen them live three times, they never fail to amaze me, Trivium are defiently one of the most talented bands out there, they have some of the freshest material and top of that, the songwriting is just excellent, My favorite songs from them are probabaly The Decieved, Departure, Declaration, The Crusade, Contempt Breeds Contamination, Becoming The Dragon, To The Rats, And Sadness Will Sear, Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr, Rain....Well if i keep going ill end up naming all there songs, i think you get the idea.
