Don't forget Apple has a fairly significant student discount on both hardware and software. Correct - you just need to be registered at a recognised and participating educational institution and be able to supply appropriate proof. Also some Apple suppliers are specialised audio ones and may well be able to advise and help (and maybe offer a discount) on integrating a Mac with Logic. There's a few such 'solution experts' in the UK and it may be worth talking to one first. Whether or not Logic (or any other sequencer) is right for you depends on your needs - including compatibility with your hardware and integration with yours and other people's set ups - and how you adjust to its workflow. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. I have a cable from Monster Cables, that goes straight into my line-in (Macbook Pro 15"), and I can record with zero latency in Garageband and it's built in guitar amp sims and effects Works great I'll find the link for you! Maybe he could use just a jack/adapter 2.5mm to 3.5mm. Note that newer macs have firewire 800 which might be a problem if you are connecting an audio interface. Although, You can use USB. I had a similar problem thats why pointing it out. Could be. But Firewire 800 and 400 send the same type of signal, it's just the speed and jack that is different. I just bought 800 to 400 cable in case I ever need to plug 400 device with my laptop. There is also adapter only available, without cable. -------------------- Youtube

I think the issue with firewire on the new macs has been because of the actual firewire interface that Apple chose to use rather than the speed. There have been a lot of reported cases that firewire audio works best with a Texas chipset and Apple (and quite a lot of pc manufacturers) have not used this. Older macs have a Texas chipset and so generally don't have issues. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. Thanks a lot! That sounds really interesting. I just read that I have to be an enrolled student in order to get a Laptop package, so this has to wait a bit.

Oh, unfortunately no. Just read about it again and realized it. Yeah, I thought so. I remember when I was looking for my Macbooc Pro, Pedja also suggested me the same so I would had to ask someone who is studying at Berklee to do me a favor. -------------------- Youtube

I am a PC guy, I never had a mac, but the macbook pro for sure is a good computer, just slightly too expensive And logic is a good system for sure too, I used it back then when they still supported windows.
