I'm working on this lesson:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...maiden-lesson2/ I have trouble with the "dave murray patented legato". 2 questions: - shall I try to go as fast as possible, or rather respect some fixed time subdivision (like 16th notes for instance). I suspect it's as fast as possible, but sometimes it makes it harder to stay in time right after the trill. Maybe I'm just not fast enough - usually, to do a proper pull-off, one has to slightly pull the string downward in order for the string to vibrate. Is it the same in that case? cause if I do it, the trill is too slow, and if I don't do it, it is not loud enough (btw, I don't use a lot of gain). Thanks, Phil |

I suggest that you try to keep it accurate note groups and try to do it slowly at first. Dont' worry if it is too slow, the speed will come in time.

Imo that is not fixed timing but also not as fast as possible either.
Murray's thrills are more like a "feel" thing, I would suggest you to copy that "sound" and you'll get the "timing" instantly, listen to more of his solos, it's a matter of how deep you go into certain style by feel, not by theory knowledge or technique. Ofc, you would still need some descent technique to pull that off. -------------------- Youtube
