Band Wants Me To Play, Need More Gear., I need your input! Options

Hey GMC. Today I was invited to start playing with a rock/country cover band. I know most of the songs on their set list, however I'm concerned about my lack of a pedal board to obtain the right tones to cover a diverse set list. I'll explain my setup, then list of songs/artists. I'm wanting to know what gear you would buy right now to make me more versatile and equipped for gigging.

Guitar: '08 American Strat
Amp: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
TS-9
Pitchblack tuner.

That's it, I just started putting my setup together as you can see and haven't gotten very far on the pedal board. Now here's some of the songs I'll be playing:

ZZ Top - Tush
Tracy Chapman - Gimmie one reason
Van Halen - Ain't Talkin' Bout Love
Eric Clapton - Cocaine
Brooks and Dunn - Neon Moon
Lynyrd Skynrd - Simple Man
Bob Seger - Turn the Page
The Toadies - Tyler
Sublime - What I Got


As you can see it's anywhere from classic rock to alternative rock to bluesy/country.

I'm thinking a delay/chorus pedal would be a good buy, but not sure what else. Any input is greatly appreciated.

From what i can see you will need a delay, flanger, and wah wah pedal on some of these songs.....not sure on the other songs????

I would go for delay,wah and maybe some sort of booster for leads,
TS9 shall probably do good job dist wise and that Fender amp is nice for cleans.

Yeah, chorus/flanger would be nice for few songs from the list
but IMO you can play them without.

Muris said it well, wah, delay and some kind of booster would be enough for starters. Crybaby, DD3, and possibly SD1 can serve you well there, these do the job for live gigs nicely, and don't cost a lot at all. You can get them second hand as well, these units are made sturdy, so they should be like-new.

I've been really considering getting an MXR Carbon Copy analog delay. What would be the pros and cons of the Boss DD-3 and the MXR Carbon copy? One's digital and one is analog I know, but there's about a $50 price difference. I still don't know the bottom line difference.

Personally i would go for the DD-3 myself, because it would offer more settings...but that,s only my opinion, don,t have much experience with the carbon copy??

Get yourself a 7 band EQ pedal with a dB boost for solos and a delay and your good to go

Add a Wah to that for some pure fun
If the dist on your amp is too weak in itself, an OD/Dist pedal.

Well mate, you got the same amp and guitar as me and you play the same music so I will tell you what ive got and how it sits in my chain.

Vox Wah - Not essential but a nice toy and a must have for any Jimi songs.

TS-9 - You have one of these so nothing needed here.

OCD - A very, very good pedal, gives a very Marshall-esque drive when switched to hi peak mode, great on the clean channel for beefing up single coils.

Wampler Pinnacle - Hi gain pedal, very shapeable and will push the amp very hard, highly recommended for lead tones although it does favour humbuckers, great EVH style tones here.

Big Muff Pi - Every board needs a fuzz pedal, whilst these arent the best available they are really good for the money, mine has the tone wicker which is a nice feature.

Stereo electric mistress - Im not into modulation really so the combined flanger/chorus on this is all i need, I do a bit of purple rain and this is all the chorus you need for a bit of eighties kitsch. (See great review by Ivan in this forum)

Seymour duncan Deja Vu - I had the same problem as you when trying to decide between analog and digital delay, so i got a pedal with both! A seriously good delay pedal this mate, has a proper bucket brigade chip as well as a digital delay, wet/dry signal, tap tempo (Essential in my book) feedback, modulation, trailing repeats or true bypass, stereo out, input for exp pedal, the list is endless really, all the delay features you will ever need, but not cheap.

Ive got every base covered on my board from floyd to SRV, the fender likes pedals on the clean channel but i rarely use the boost channel, too brittle and harsh. I toyed with the idea of a linear boost pedal but prefer to use my guitars volume though i may add a volume pedal at some point.

if you dont mind it,

id would go multi effects for a live situation. but thats me at least. I dont think anything beats the convenience of have an all in one box.

infact, i have 2 multi effects pedals in my rig, one analog, and one digital. right now i use an ibanez UE300 + digitech rp500 + blackstar ht-5.

since live, no one can tell how good your effects quality is, convenience is always the advantage when it comes to live play. I also use the digitech as a direct recording interface to the PC and i get great sound quality.


however,

if you have the budget, pedals are also great, they sound better of course, (more natural sounding to say the least) but like i said, they are tiny bit more trouble.
