Hi there!
Recently i bought a used guitar (can be seen here: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...howtopic=30992). It sounds good, and is well crafted. But when playing above certain volume levels the pickups have an extreme feedback. I talked about it with the local guitar dealer and he said the pickups could be "microphonic". I did a bit of research and found two possible fixes: 1. Buy new pickups. Since its a realy cheap guitar, i dont want to spend much on pickups... 2. "Repotting" the pickups like described here: http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/dip.htm I am pretty sure the pickups are microphonic as i can here my voice through the amp when turning up the volume and speaking/humming into the pickup. Please help! Thank you in advance! -------------------- rivers just happen

I would bin the pups mate, you could prbably get a decent enough set of buckers for not too much dough off ebay.

I agree with sted, work out some cash and buy second hand hums from eBay or local ads. I guess any branded ones will be better then these.

Anything by DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan will be fine mate, or even some Gibson ones will probably go straight in, a lot of people upgrade Les Pauls and such and then sell off the Gibson buckers which are very good pups.
These would be a great buy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GIBSON-HUMBUCKERS_W0...=item20aded687d http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gibson-Humbuckers-pi...=item35a4a2ef25 Or these would look and sound awesome in my opinion, kind of midway between a P90 and a Humbucker http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GIBSON-P100-GUITAR-P...=item3356774809 avoid the very cheap Epiphone ones if you can, they wont be as bad as the ones you've got but a little extra money will go a long way! |

Seymor Duncan 59/Jazz for neck, and Seymor Duncan JB for the bridge, it's a very common combination and you cannot go wrong with it.

If you like the pickups and care to keep them you can vax them.
20 minutes in a mix of bee vax and parafine (word?) (candle light) at 70 degrees Celcius. The dry them and wipe the surface off. -------------------- My bands homepage

If you can hear your voice in the amp while talking in the mics, I would be worried about that!. Hahaha. I think you should follow Ivan's advice. You can go wrong with those SD
