I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that if you mention in the description who the original writers, performers, album and record company is, it won't get deleted

That might be the reason why it didn't allow me to upload a take a recorded of "Last Resort" by Papa Roach. I will have to try uploading it again mentioning all that. That happened to a friend of mine but he was posting videos from other sites under his name so he got his Youtube account suspended in the end

Hmm if you have a myspace musician account , you can upload your audio/video songs there...

well i got quite a lot of experience here, and at the end it's not possible to upload covers to youtube, even if you mention the original authors composers etc.
some publishers are more strict than others, and seems like Warner Music Group is the worst, but, eventually all covers will be removed  ..
