Jackson Usa Sl....2 I Think?

Nov 24 2009, 08:05 PM	Accomplished Tone Guru Posts: 959 Joined: 13-July 08 From: Oslo, NO	Hiu guys I`m keen (at least this week, lol ) to substitute my Ibanez S classic with the Jackson SL1. Why? I want HSS setup, 24 frets, a guitar with floyd royse and that compound neck seems awesome as well. I presume it`s a total kickass for metal and shred, so almost no need to ask for that. but I wonder how versatile it is? According to jackson`s own site, the SL1 could play almost any genre, from heavy leads to even jazz. So, any opinions on the jackson sl 1 ? I found a example at eBay today with a transparent black/brown finish, BEAUTIFUL! Not to expensive neither. Of course, buying a SL1 means I have to sell my Ibanez...which is a pretty hard thing to do. I have a Jackson USA King V and I had a Prestige RG and the Jackson blows it out of the water in terms of sound, hardware, crafting and wood quality!! I`m not huge jazz-player, so I don`t require much from tone there. For blues, vintage rock, surd, clean etc my strat will do I feel the G.A.S is coming back a bit to quick.... If you`ve tried one ofc As a coincidence, my local guitar store only had one Caparison - A Mattias IA Ekhlund signature^^ and ofcourse I played it! I have also played a USA soloist (a HH version but they are no diffrent from the HSS except for the pickups) Both guitars are grade A shred monsters! Thin (but not too thin) necks, 24 frets, superstrat shapes with the best hardware you can get , both are extremely well crafted out of high class woods. I had the impression that the Caparison was even better made than the Jackson (which itself is almost perfect!) while the Jackson sounded better imho. The Neckthrough on the Soloist gives a longer sustain and let's the guitar resonate more evenly (Check Mr. Gary Moore playing a HSS Jackson soloist) The Caparison however is a signature model, you don't really need that weird feeling finish, 27 frets and IA's pickups when you can get a Caparison Dellinger II or Horus for less money and diffrent pickups but with the same great build and hardware... You really have to test both guitars next to each other to make your own impression. I prefer the Jackson but a non signature Caparison is almost as good for less money!!
