Yeah I felt the same, I had to redo the slower one a few times -- but the faster ones I found easier...

haha 4th Example incoming tonight!!

(I started a little on it last night... I need to try keep my notes clean -- the other notes ring out when I play the scale... )

Cool Pierre. Make sure you mute unwanted noise with left hand. Its all about how much you lift your fingers and how you lift them from the strings. It will come with experience. Thats why it is essential to do slower tempos to hear mistakes and correct them before moving onto faster tempos.
Look forward to 4th example man.

Hey Pedja, well I took your advice and started slow and tried to keep the noise down, so here's excercise 4:

Sounds good Pierre. Work more on muting with your fretting hand rather than your picking hand. Inside of your whole index finger should be muting strings as you play the notes. Overall this is good but I can see you having problems with it with faster tempos!

Hmm ok... I'll concentrate on left hand muting... I find that a little more difficult than right hand for sure, because I get these arb sounds sometimes when I lift my finger just slightly..

It is definitely more difficult than right hand muting but once you get it down you will have control over any technique you play clean wink.gif

Great! You will especially need it for Exercise 5 if you plan on getting it at much faster tempo. Look forward to your upload Pierre

.. Hey Pedja, I'm going to have to finish it up tomorrow -- its getting late and my fingers are getting numb... and I'm not happy with the second video and having a lot of trouble with the third, so I'll finish it tomorrow after some rest...

Very good work Pierre, I like it. I think you are there now with tempos and your left hand muting has already improved a lot. I am very happy to see and hear that man. Keep on working on these, now we will move on onto your 2nd assignment, another important technique, sweep picking this time!

Now we move onto your 2nd assignment for December. Deadline for 2nd assignment is 18th of December (6 days from today).

Sweep picking

- Record audio and/or video of sweep picking exercises provided.
- Tempo of your choice.
- For extra work try to do examples in couple of different tempos!

You can find videos of the exercises HERE

Let me know if you have any questions!

Pedja

Hey Pedja, the timing in the first one, you've got it as a 4/4, but the notes are in sets of 3 and there are 6 per beat...

shouldn't it be like a 3/4 timing?

Hey Pierre,

Those are 16th note triplets. 6 even notes per one click! They are twice as fast from 8th note triplet. Have you checked the video thread where I demonstrated those?
