you ready for this?

you take the floyd OFF the guitar, and put the new one ON the guitar smile.gif

but seriously, im pretty sure it is that easy, i dont think you need to replace the posts or anything else...should be a drop in, but dont quote me 100% on this

which guitar are you putting the OFR in?

Make sure the original Floyd and the liscensed one have the same measurements!!!
Just because it is liscensed under a Floyd Rose patent doesn't mean it has to have the same size (for example you can just replace an Ibanez Edge trem with a Floyd!)

If Yes: Pull the old one out and put in the new one!

If No: Get your guitar to a luthier and ask him if it's possible

It really is as easy as that!!

Just take the strings off, unhook the springs and swap the Trems. Attach the springs, restring and you're good to go.

it would help if we knew which guitar you were switching,

because if its an ibanez trem, you will have issues transfering trems.

Edge 3 cant be replaced by an OFR

edge pro can

Edge zero CANT

ZR CANT

I did it this way smile.gif It took me 10 min.

Also make sure, as Zakk said, that the dimensions are the same. Take your guitar to the store and see there.

Well, i just wanted to make sure that taking off all the strings on the first floyd wouldn't damage it and stuff like that smile.gif

Also it's an ESP Horizon wink.gif

ESP Horizons are equipped with an original Floyd Rose!
Or do you have an ESP Ltd Horizon?

I would take it to a luthier, that's some major intervention

On my ESP F-200 a piece of my Floyd Rose has broke a few years ago. Nobody could find the exact part to fix it. I now have a Frankenstein Floyd Rose. There is a lot of different models for the licensed Floyd Rose. Go see a Luther if you are serious about changing your Floyd Rose.
